Growing Season:
2011 was another cool growing season. December was very wet, with January very dry and warm. La Niña brought more late-winter rains and spring showers through the end of June. The rainfall total for 2011 ended up at 125% of normal. Chardonnay became ripe about two weeks later than usual on September 16. Picking Chardonnay commenced at our Larsen Estate vineyard on September 26. The moderate temperatures of the summer and fall allowed Chardonnay to continue to ripen until October 13, when the last fruit was finally harvested.
